When and where are the awards held?

Monday, June 8th at Lawrence High School, 7:30 pm

Who can attend the awards?

Students/Staff from any participating school are invited to attend. Schools are permitted a limited number of tickets (see below), and any remaining tickets may be purchased by schools or the public.

When do I get my final written adjudications?

Adjudications for the spring semester will be released via email in the last week of May. 

When do nominations get announced?

Nominations will be announced on the website and through the METG YouTube page on Monday, June 1st.

When do tickets go on sale?

Public Tickets go on sale on the morning of Thursday, June 4th. Directors will receive information to pass along to families.

How many tickets does my school receive?

The number of tickets offered to a school varies with the number of nominations. All participating schools receive two tickets, and additional tickets based on any nominations. A detailed breakdown will be provided to each school after nominations are announced.

Is there a dress code for the awards?

This is a formal event, and we encourage students to wear whatever makes them feel their best. Please encourage your students to continue following individual school guidelines regarding appropriate dress (hemlines; no vulgar symbols or language). Nominees and performers will be doing a good amount of walking, so encourage students to wear shoes they can comfortably move in.

Who performs at the METG Musical Awards?

We have three groups of performers at the METG Awards

1. Schools nominated for Best Musical are invited to present a short selection from their show.
2. Students nominated for Leading or Featured Actor are invited to perform in our opening numbers for Act I and Act II. 
3. Our Jimmy Awards Finalists are invited to perform the closing medley of Act I.

When are performer rehearsals? Who should attend?

Rehearsal for performances will be held on Saturday, June 6th, at Lawrence High School.

1. Schools will be contacted about scheduling a time to run your production number
2. Nominated/Jimmy Performers will learn and rehearse a brand new number for the Award Show

*Nominated and Jimmy performers may be dropped off and picked up at LHS, but a director and/or parent representative should be present with School Performances at all times.

Additionally, all performers will be invited for a run-through before the Awards Night on Monday afternoon. A detailed schedule will be sent to nominees/performers after nominations are announced.

If I am nominated for Best Musical, what should my performance look like?

Best Musical Nominees are invited to perform a 3-min selection from their show. You are welcome to choose a single song or arrange a medley. Sheet music needs to be made available to our band shortly after nominations, so feel free to prepare in advance. Up to 14 microphones will be available to each group, but by no means do you need to mic your entire group. Groups will not have time to change, so students should plan to wear their performance wear for the evening. Often, people select a color theme or a small accessory (e.g., a Hadestown flower) to unify the group in their more formal attire.
