The REGISTRATION DEADLINE for this year’s Contest Day is November 14, 2021. You do not need to have your presentation ready by that date - you just need to complete the Registration Form by that date.

The new process for Contest Day 2021/2022 will be:

For students who register for IN-PERSON:

  • Once registration has closed, you will be contacted by the Contest Chair to be assigned a time slot.
  • Adjudicators will watch all in-person entries during their assigned time slot and score them on the appropriate rubric.
  • In-person space will be limited so sign up today! If we reach capacity for in-person, you will have the option to submit virtually. In the event that this occurs, you will be contacted by the METG.

For students who register for VIRTUAL:

  • Once registration has closed, you will be sent an ID Number and information with a link to instructions on how to record and upload their contest entry.
  • Contestants will record their monologues/scenes/technical presentations and submit them to our online platform.
  • Adjudicators will review all entries and score them on the appropriate rubric.

  • Once all in-person sessions have concluded and all virtual submissions have been viewed, the top students in each contest will be invited to a Zoom call with the judges during the week of December 13th where they will meet with students and provide feedback. We will post the exact date to each contest page when it is available.
  • At the conclusion of that Zoom call, the judges will determine the winners in each contest and a Winners Announcement video will be posted to the METG website and Vimeo page.

Additional Info:

  • Each student attending the IN-PERSON Contest Day will be required to complete an Health Attestation Form prior to arriving at Norwood High School.
  • Students may change their registration from in-person to virtual and vice versa up to the registration deadline. After the registration deadline, changes will only be accepted for health safety reasons. Any student who tests positive or is a known close contact and is unable to attend the in-person event will have the opportunity to submit their entry virtually. That submission must be received by Contest Day on December 11th. If you need to make any changes to your registration please contact us at metg@metg.org.
  • As always, the METG is committed to providing barrier-free access to student programming for all students regardless of their financial means. If the registration fee poses a hardship, please contact metg@metg.org to request a waiver.
  • Please note, this is the process for the High School Doug Ingalls Monologue Scholarship Contest, the High School Scene Partner Contest, the Excellence in Technical Theater Contest, and the High School Festival Logo Design Contest. This process may change for the contests later in the year.
